Hi,
Thanks for the podcast.
I am MTHFR heterozygous for both C677T and A1298C.
My homocysteine level came back normal.
I am trying to conceive, been through 4 IVF and had implantation failure.
Do I need to treat and take folate instead of folic acid.
Thanks,
Amel

It would be a good idea to search for the methylated folate especially if you know you have the mutation
Diane Keddy, MS, RD says
Hi Amel,
You might want to ask your doctor about the use of Lovenox injections. And yes you do need methylfolate.
Best to you.

Would a grain have folic acid in it, even if the label lists folate? I thought I was being safe here. :/ NTD mom here, TTC!
Fertility Friday says
Grains are fortified with folic acid (not folate). There may be companies that use folate, but I’d call to verify.

Hi there, 34F
Was referred to this podcast by another listener. It’s 2020 now, (5 years later) and let’s just say that there still haven’t been that many studies done to prove that the mutation can cause recurrent miscarriages. In the past few months I have had 2 miscarriages and last week I found out that I was homozygous for c667t. Definitely going to take Folate and give this one last shot as emotionally hard and draining the process has been. Thank you for this episode!
