I only took the Pill for a couple months, about 15 years ago, and I mainly took it to see if it would clear up my acne. Although it did seem to help my skin and it caused my breasts to enlarge which I liked, I ultimately decided to quit taking it because I realized it wasn’t natural. I desired to find natural ways to clear my skin and heal my other health problems and I figured the Pill would likely interfere with my body’s wisdom to heal.
The biggest thing that stood out to me in this episode is when you mentioned that in sex ed we are mostly taught that women are always fertile throughout the entire cycle. Lately, I have been feeling embarrassed because here I am almost 35 years old and only recently did I learn that women are only fertile for a small window, about 7 days, in the entire cycle. It’s hard for me to understand why I’m only just learning this at age 34!!! Sometimes my boyfriend would want to have sex without a condom when I was on the last day of my period and I would tell him that he better wear a condom because there still could be a chance that I could pregnant. I now realize that I was coming from a place of complete ignorance and have been carrying a fear around stemming from the false belief that a woman is fertile every single day of her cycle. Knowing the truth truly does make me feel more free!!! I am so thankful to have discovered the Fertility Awareness Method and to be learning even more about myself and the amazing wisdom of my female body.
